DROP THE SPOTLIGHT: Dani Rose Nods to 'Jolene' in Heart-Wrenching New Single 'Whiskey You're Cold'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2024) – Dani Rose released her latest single “Whiskey You’re Cold,” today. The track explores the painful dynamic of addiction and betrayal in relationships with a nod to Dolly Parton‘s notorious “Jolene.” This single sets the stage for Dani’s upcoming EP, “Outsiders,” due Nov. 8, where Dani will blend her signature western edge with classic country rock in a way that only she can.

“This song is for anyone that has ever experienced a loved one struggling with addiction,” said Dani. “I used the image of ‘Jolene’ because I felt like whiskey was taking this man away from me and it didn’t even need him. Unlike Jolene, however, it was leaving the mess, the mental anguish and physical decline for me to clean up.”

Dani Rose weaves her country roots with dynamic orchestral instrumentals in the track, matching her rising emotion through the song. Her gripping lyrics speak directly to whiskey, reveal the agony of loving an alcoholic through their addiction.

“You’re worse than Jolene.

You’re selfish and mean.

You break him down and

then send him home to me.

He says that he loves me,

but you’re always right in between.

Dani Rose co-wrote “Whiskey You’re Cold” with Liz Rose (notably known for her work with Taylor Swift, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood), Femke Weidema (Grammy-winning producer and songwriter for Beto Cuevas) and Sofie Lynn. The song was produced by Jaxon Hargrove (Ashley McBrideBrothers Osborn and Little Big Town).

“‘It was one of the hardest and yet easiest songs I’ve ever written because it’s pure truth. This is country music storytelling and I couldn’t ask for better co-writers to help tell it,” said Dani.

With sync placements on four episodes of Paramount’s Yellowstone, and additional songs on CBS’s Fire Country, HBO’s True Blood, CMT’s Nashville, The CW’s Roswell and Fox’s Monarch, Dani Rose continues to keep audiences enthralled. With this list of accomplishments, Rose has drawn reviews from the likes of Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone, who said,

“I’ve got a pretty good knack for finding the next big star…miss Dani Rose and I think you’ll really like her.”
